Nothing Happens in Heaven
Noting Happens in Heaven V-XVI '06-'07
I selected images that represented banal moments of everyday life. The images suggest what one may experience as the commonplace, happiness and/or joy. I was interested in disrupting these idealized situations. I represented these images in ways in which they would not necessarily be depicted. The images are painted in a series of poured glazes in order to obscure the details. An image of a kiss becomes two figures with very pasty and clown-like complexions. Blueberries seem to have a quality of mold developing on their surface. A pair of hands being washed seem to be immersed in unclean water.
